About HH
At HangoverHeadlines.com, we think drinking is a dumb idea—but instead of preaching, we prove it with ridiculous, jaw-dropping stories that make you laugh, cringe, and maybe even rethink that “one last round.”
HangoverHeadlines.com is an independent quarterly humor and culture publication founded in December 2025 by journalist and Editor-in-Chief Chris Benson, author of REPORTING FROM DETOX: A Journalist’s Guide to America’s Addiction & Mental Health Crisis—and the Power of Community to Transform.
Based in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, HangoverHeadlines.com is operated by a team of recoverees who know first-hand that humor can hit harder than a hangover. Comedy is part of our recovery tool belt—and our rebellion.
Our mission is simple: to source and publish authentic stories from Americans living through addiction or rebuilding their lives in recovery—and pay them a modest fee at a time when even a small opportunity can make a big impact.
We aim to promote the concept of recovery from alcohol and other addictions through accessible, deeply personal stories that serve the public interest and are infused with humor.
The goal? To spotlight raw, hilarious, unfiltered stories from people battling addiction or rebuilding after it. Because in recovery, even a small check can be a big step forward.
At HangoverHeadlines.com, we toast to mistakes, celebrate resilience, and find connection in the shared laughter that comes the morning after.

Who are we?
Chris Benson is the editor-in-chief of HangoverHeadlines.com, and a registered Pennsylvania lobbyist. Before launching HH, Chris spent two years with United Press International (UPI), where his reporting was routinely shared by publications like The Miami Herald, MSN, Breitbart, Yahoo!, The Korea Times, and other global outlets.
After years of heavy drinking, and following an HIV diagnosis and two DUIs, Chris quit alcohol on December 2, 2022—a turning point that reshaped both his life and career.
A former political operative turned journalist, he served as a Pennsylvania delegate for U.S. President Barack Obama in 2012 at just 23 years old, and worked on statewide HIV planning efforts with the state’s Department of Health. He later worked as content manager and a reporter for central Pennsylvania’s largest digital newsroom before joining an award-winning newspaper in the Susquehanna River Valley, where he interviewed prominent figures from former New York Gov. George Pataki to the daughter of slain civil rights leader Malcolm X.
His work at HangoverHeadlines.com now explores recovery, humor, and the messy parts of getting better. Chris was first published in his hometown newspaper at age 14, “once upon a time.” His life revolves around Oakley, his golden retriever.

Marisa Shaffer, Acquisitions Manager, is a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) based in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. After taking her last drink on January 1, 2023—following a fourth DUI—she has devoted herself to personal growth and service within the recovery community. Through dedication and persistence, Marisa has built a life she once thought impossible.
When she’s not working or supporting others in recovery, Marisa enjoys spending time with her family, her three sons—including a set of twins—and her three mischievous cats.
Yeti Kiersnowski, Creative Director, gave up the bottle on September 20, 2020. And then their life fell apart. After being diagnosed with a chronic illness and disability, they picked up where they left off 30 years previously and have been learning how to do design work ever since.
In previous lives, Yeti had been many things—bartender, music journalist, stand-up comedian, satire writer, burlesque MC, roller derby announcer, and voice over actor. When not designing, they can often be found binging Forged In Fire or Deadliest Catch reruns, or making variations of street food he sees on YouTube.
Yeti is controlled by an old, deaf black lab named Sweet Abe.
